My Services
Whatever type of editing you’re looking for, I will provide a balanced, careful, and courteous edit.
Copyediting
- Fix spelling, grammar, and the countless other issues that comprise them. Hyphenation, abbreviation, capitalization, punctuation, and more.
- Formatting made ready for submission. Citations properly formatted. Ensure all in-text citations or notes match an entry in the reference list or bibliography.
Line Editing
- Improvements to writing style, diction, and expressiveness. Editing at the paragraph level; adjust the flow and tone of your work.
- Beneficial to anyone. ESL, ELL, and other non-native English speakers are welcome.
Proofreading
- Final edits at the “proof” stage of publication. Catch minor errors and typos, check typesetting, and markup PDFs in Acrobat.
- Reduce your workload and apply a professional eye at the last steps. Outside of publishing, often overlaps with light copyediting.

What’s in an edit?
Consistency
Apply stylistic choices consistently across the entire document. Check that terminology, places, people, dates, and data are used (and spelled) consistently.
Style Guide
Confirm your work matches the preferred style guide of your field and the house style of your publisher or university. I specialize in the Chicago Manual of Style and the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association.
Informed Reading
Put myself in the reader’s position. Assess the flow and basic logic of your writing. Make sure everything will make sense to a third party.
Bias-free Language
Avoid discriminatory, outdated, or offensive language.
Our Workflow
- Reach out to me with a description of your project.
- We’ll consult via Zoom and discuss what you’re looking for, and I’ll carry out a free sample edit of 500 words.
- From there, we’ll determine the price, figure out payments, and make an agreement on the timeline and parameters of the project.
